The Virtual & Reality Unit of the Cosmologic Dialogue Section at the 9th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture is located at the old Kingway Brewery recently renovated into the exhibition main venue. Its spatial design explores the relationship between the material and the virtual; on the one hand, it is not only a metaphor for the resources in the material world where material and energy are extracted from, the physical evidence of man's exploitation of them, but also the vehicle of the virtual; on the other hand, it not only implies mines in the virtual world, where energy-consuming digital activities such as "mining" take places, but also revisits and reflects on such phenomenon that an excessive amount of resources and energy in the material world are being consumed to manufacture digital hardware, to build infrastructures, as well as to sustain the construct and operation of the virtual.

The matrix of objects from both the Virtual and the Matters exhibitions are fully mixed in the open gallery space, while the exhibition display is constructed with "ore" modules made of eco-friendly recycled bonded foam and metal frame that can be dissembled and salvaged.

[Material Library] is an installation located at the far-end corner of the Virtual & Reality Unit of the Cosmologic Dialogue Section at the 9th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture. Objects displayed here includes a variety of environmentally friendly and low-carbon materials used in the artworks exhibited throughout the UABB main venue, samples of other local innovative sustainable materials, and virtual materials from the artwork "Beyond reification fallacy of the non-fungible materials" displayed on LED screens.

Its design echoes that of the exhibition space by deriving the prototypes from the unique morphology of the stone walls and caves in abandoned quarries; the unique texture of the carved walls in the caves is the trace left by human excavations, and eventually has become the physical evidence of their insatiable demands for material resources, as well as the projection of their desires, expectations and ideologies in the physical world. Therefore, the installation itself is not only a medium to display the physical and virtual materials, to bridge the two worlds, but also immediate visualization of the supply-demand and exchange relationships between the two.

Among the abandoned "stone walls" formed by "ore" modules made of eco-friendly recycled sponges and metal frames, the physical and virtual sustainable material samples are randomly scattered, awaiting to be discovered and excavated; in the "cave" space, you can sit in the hidden dark niche defined by the gigantic “stone pillars”, and watch the projected videos from the Virtual unit.

Similar to the rest of the exhibition space, when the exhibition comes to an end, the entire installation can be completely dissembled and salvaged.
