Y-COMIC-X? Exhibition Design

The design of the Y-COMIC-X? Exhibition of Chinese Comics for the Design Society at the Sea World Culture and Arts Center aims at exploring the essence of Comics - Comics is essentially a kind of narrative drawing that expresses three-dimension (i.e. space,  geometry) and four-dimension (i.e. movement, time) on two-dimensional media in specific ways. For example, storyboard is a common tool in comics to express narrative order, while dots, lines, brush strokes are often used to indicate the turning of three-dimensional geometric shapes, depth of space, speed and movement, etc.

Through the extraction and abstraction of commonly present elements in comics such as frames, profiles, storyboards, brush strokes and so on, the design explores the transformation amongst various dimensions in all 6 Chapters of the exhibition space, allowing the audience to be immersed in a multi-dimensional realm of comics to explore its dynamic trans-dimensional interactions, and more importantly, to have fun.

设计互联海上世界文化艺术中心百年国漫大展的展览空间设计试图探究漫画的本质为何 :漫画是一种叙事性绘画,在二维平面媒介载体上通过一些特定的方式表现三维(空间、形体)、四维(动态、时间)- 如漫画中常见的分镜框展现了叙事顺序,而点、线等笔触的使用则勾勒出三维几何形体的转折、空间距离的远近、速度的快慢及动态的走向等。

本次展览的空间设计结合展览六个部分的主题和展品,对漫画中常见的线框、勾边、分镜、笔触等元素进行抽象、提取,试图在空间中探索不同维度间的转换,使参观者仿佛置身于一个多维度的全息漫画世界,在观展过程中充分体验漫画所呈现的二维、三维、四维间的动态交互关系和乐趣。
